EDMUND J MACLAUGHLIN MD
Dr. Edmund J. MacLaughlin, MD, FACP, CCD
Dr. Edmund MacLaughlin began his practice of Rheumatology on the Eastern Shore of Maryland in 1982. A regional expert in metabolic bone disease and osteoporosis, he treats patients from the entire Delmarva peninsula. He has published research in rheumatoid arthritis, with recent published research in osteoarthritis and osteoporosis.
He obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from the Pennsylvania State University, followed by postgraduate studies in Biochemistry at the Johns Hopkins University. His medical degree was from the University of Maryland. His internship and residency training in Internal Medicine was performed at the Washington Hospital Center, an affiliate of Georgetown University, where he was co-chief medical resident. His fellowship in Rheumatology was at the University of Missouri.
Dr. MacLaughlin enjoys the recreational opportunities of the Eastern Shore. His wife, Cheryl, is active in the practice following a career in public health. His daughter is a physician’s assistant, and his son is a mathematician working in the defense industry.
She is a native of Maryland’s Eastern shore and is thrilled to be raising her children there. In her free time, she enjoys reading, boating, cooking, and spin classes. Like any true Marylander, she hasn’t found any seafood that she doesn’t love.
She fell in love with rheumatology because of its diagnostic challenges and the patient relationships that come from chronic disease management.
