Dr. Schechtman is the Medical Director of Sun Valley Arthritis Center. She is Board Certified in Rheumatology and has been in private practice since 1985. She earned her medical degree from Ohio University of Osteopathic Medicine and completed her internal medicine residency at Doctor’s Hospital in Columbus, OH and rheumatology fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation. She was a professor at Midwestern University and the former Chief of Staff at Arrowhead Hospital in Glendale, AZ. Dr. Schechtman was voted Top Doctor in Rheumatology for 2012 and 2013 by Phoenix Magazine. Additionally, she been involved as the principal investigator of over 200 clinical trials. She is a founding member and on the Board of Directors of the American Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates medical group.

SunValley Arthritis Center, Ltd., was established in 1987 and is headed by Joy Schechtman, D.O., FACR, FACOI. The practice’s focus is on the diagnosis and treatment of rheumatic illnesses such as rheumatoid arthritis, juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, psoriatic arthritis, ankylosing spondylitis, systemic lupus erythematosis, gout, osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, and many others.
Our services include on site infusions, bone density, MRI, and clinical research. The Center provides diagnostic care with several state-of-the-art modalities, including an on-site GE Lunar DXA and Hitachi Airis II open MRI system, which provide the clinicians with information regarding osteoporosis, osteopenia, and anatomical data for many illnesses, respectively. The on site lab is also provided as a convenience for our patients. Nerve conduction studies for carpal tunnel and other related disorders are performed on site as well.
