Dr. Farooq Hassan, M.D., FACR

Dr. Hassan has been practicing rheumatology since 1999. He speaks English and Urdu. He joined University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Horizon in Greenville, Pennsylvania in 2001 and is the founder of Regional Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates (RARA) in Hermitage, Pennsylvania. He believes in an integrated, detailed, open, and compassionate approach to patient care. He is affiliated with and provides consultation services at UPMC Horizon at both campuses in Hermitage and Greenville, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Hassan is actively involved in teaching medical students and residents and specializes in all aspects of clinical rheumatology, such as crystalline arthritis (gout, pseudogout), all forms of arthritis, vasculitis, inflammatory myositis, osteoporosis, sarcoidosis, fibromyalgia, and connective tissue diseases such as lupus. Dr. Hassan is also currently offering cosmetic dermatology procedures to his patients, including Botox and dermal fillers.

Dr. Hassan received his M.D./M.B.B.S from Dow Medical College in Karachi, Pakistan. He completed his internal medicine residency at St. Francis Medical Center in Trenton, NJ. He completed his rheumatology fellowship at SUNY (State University of New York) at Stoney Brook, NY. He is a Fellow of the American College of Rheumatology and is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. He completed specialized training for injecting Botox and Dermal fillers from the National Laser Institute in Phoenix, AZ.

Services offered at RARA include trigger point injections, ultrasound-guided injections, infusion therapies, DXA (dual energy x-ray absorptiometry) technology, and cosmetic procedures such as Botox and dermal fillers.

Physician Assistant

Ziba Naseri, PA-C, joined Regional Arthritis and Rheumatology Associates in November 2014 after having completed the Physician Assistant Program at Mount Union University at Alliance, Ohio. She also holds a Master of Science degree in General Biology from the University of Tabriz in Iran. In addition to completing her undergraduate degree in Biology from Youngstown State University (graduating Summa Cum Laude), she is a graduate of Saint Elizabeth School of Nuclear Medicine in Youngstown, Ohio (AART and NMTCB Board Certified).

AARA Doctor Ziba

Ziba’s special field of study has been Rheumatology, and the focus of her knowledge is in the treatment of rheumatoid arthritis and SLE. Ziba provides multiple diagnostic and therapeutic procedures that include arthrocentesis, joint injections, trigger point injections, and interpretation of DEXA scans and laboratory works. Her work exemplifies a philosophy that dictates compassionate and detailed care to her patients.

She is affiliated with University of Pittsburgh Medical Center at Horizon (both campuses at Greenville and Hermitage, Pennsylvania). Her professional memberships include the American Association of Physician Assistants and the American College of Rheumatology. In her leisure, Ziba enjoys traveling and sports, particularly golf and bicycling. She is fluent in English, Persian, and Turkish.
