TURLOCK & PLEASANTON ARTHRITIS AND OSTEOPOROSIS MEDICAL CENTERS

Dr. Iraj Sabahi, M.D.

Dr. Iraj Sabahi is Board Certified in Rheumatology and Internal Medicine and has been in private practice in California since 2010.

Dr. Sabahi graduated from Tehran University of Medical Sciences in 1992. He gained experience by working in different positions in Iran (his father land), including at a national Iranian oil company and as a medical liaison officer in Tehran private hospital.

After immigration to Canada and before reclaiming his medical license, he had firsthand experience as a rheumatology patient. This strengthened his goal to provide the foremost comprehensive and up to date patient care. As a volunteer he was also involved with nicotine research in CAMH institute in Toronto, Canada.

After passing his Canadian and American exams, he was accepted into the internal medicine program of Howard University Hospital in Washington, D.C. His experience with a rheumatologic disease (Wegner Granulomatosis) and diagnostic challenges were the driving reasons for him to choose rheumatology as his specialty.

After finishing his residency, he completed one year of a clinical research fellowship in MedStar Health Research Institute and gained invaluable experience in clinical trials. This experience has shaped his belief that innovation is a must in any scientific field and that patients have the right to be informed about the current clinical trials and the availability of new medications and procedures. This allows patients the opportunity to make informed decisions.

Dr. Sabahi then completed two years of clinical fellowship training in the Washington Hospital Center / Georgetown University program. He has been in private practice since 2010 in the state of California, with offices in Pleasanton and Turlock. Dr. Sabahi provides in-office infusion and prolotherapy services, in addition to conducting clinical research.

Dr. Sabahi enjoys spending his free time with his young son and daughter.

Turlock & Pleasanton Arthritis and Osteoporosis Medical Centers

Our vision is to expand the knowledge of our community regarding the essential role and value of the specialty of Rheumatology. We have two convenient locations in Pleasanton and Turlock, CA.

Dr. Iraj Sabahi’s practice focuses on the diagnosis and management of arthritis, osteoporosis, osteoarthritis, and autoimmune diseases in the Pleasanton and Turlock, CA area. We are committed to providing the best possible care by using cutting-edge technology and the latest therapies available.

Our “treat to target” strategy is to reduce the disease activity, prevent structural joint and bone damages, and improve the overall patient outcome. We have increased the accuracy of physical examination and interventions by using ultra sonogram in our practice on a daily basis.

Each patient is a unique individual with a different genetic makeup. Extent and severity of symptoms, disease complications, response to medications, and development of side effects can vary quite widely from one patient to the next.

After confirming the diagnosis and determining the disease severity and presence or absence of systemic manifestations, the patient needs to be counseled regarding the available therapeutic options including the new FDA approved medications or even clinical trials if necessary.

It is the patient’s right to choose the course of action. Our job is to measure the response to therapy, monitor for the emergence of adverse reactions or complications, tailor the therapy accordingly, and stay up-to-date with new emerging diagnostic and therapeutic modalities in our field.
