Dr. Gwenesta Melton, M.D.
Dr. Gwenesta Melton treats a spectrum of rheumatologic illnesses. She is board certified in both Internal Medicine and Rheumatology. She graduated from Tulane University School of Medicine in New Orleans, LA. She completed her Internal Medicine Training at Brooke Army Medical Center in San Antonio, TX. She completed a Rheumatology fellowship at Walter Reed Army Medical Center, in Washington D.C. She then completed her ten years in the military and opened LaFayette Clinic in Fayetteville, NC in 1989.
Dr. Melton is a Fellow and Committee member of the American College of Rheumatology. She represents North Carolina on the Affiliate State Council and various ACR committees. She is also a member of the American College of Physicians. As a former President of the North Carolina Rheumatology Association and current Board member, she advocates for patients in Washington, DC. Additionally, she is a Founding Member and Vice President of the Association of Women in Rheumatology, co-leading the Advocacy and Local Chapter committees as well. Educating physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, and medical students, Dr. Melton is a clinical preceptor for South Eastern Regional Hospital, Cape Fear Valley Medical Center, and Harnett Health System. She is a former faculty member of Duke University Medical Center as adjunct consulting physician in the Rheumatology division. She spends her free time hiking, dancing, and traveling to foreign countries. She is married to a Nephrologist and has a grown daughter with her own marketing company.

LaFayette Clinic provides the highest level of specialty care in the field of rheumatology in the Sandhills region of North Carolina, treating a spectrum of rheumatologic illnesses. Utilizing state of the art biologic agents, patients are offered the latest therapies for their care.
Dr. Melton provides evaluations for the following conditions: Rheumatoid Arthritis, Lupus, Scleroderma, Gout, Osteoporosis, Psoriatic Arthritis, Inflammatory Arthritis, and Sjogren’s Disease.
For management of rheumatologic conditions, we offer steroid injections of joints, both with and without ultrasound guidance, and infusion of biologic agents for treatment of inflammatory diseases.

Pamela Hudak
Ms Hudak is a graduate of Methodist University with a BA degree. She has experience as a Rheumatology PA for ten years. She has mentored other PAs in rheumatology. Married with two daughters she spends her spare time with them.
Katherine Cole
Ms Cole is a graduate of Methodist University with a Maste of Medical Science and a graduate of North Carolina State. She is an experience Rheumatology PA and a Co- Director of PAs/ NPs in the Association of Women in Rheumatology. She is a major contributor to the PA/ NP Quick Start publication for the Association. In her spare time she travels, does pottery and helps her dogs and husband.
