Dr. Chacko Alappatt, MD
Dr Alappatt is a board-certified rheumatologist and is the founder of the Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center of Southwest Ohio. Dr. Alappatt grew up in Northeastern Ohio and attended The University of Akron for his undergraduate training. He earned his medical degree at Northeastern Ohio Medical University. Dr. Alappatt completed an Internal Medicine internship and residency at the Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana. His Rheumatology training was at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Dr. Alappatt has authored or co-authored published articles in the Journal of Rheumatology and Arthritis and Rheumatism. He has a special interest in Gouty Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis and Osteoporosis. He enjoys spending time with his wife and four children. His hobbies include tennis, cycling, running, and eating a variety of foods.

The Arthritis & Osteoporosis Center of Southwest Ohio was established in 2006. Our practice is the leading private rheumatology specialty practice in the Middletown-South Dayton area. As a rheumatology center, we specialize in the diagnosis and treatment of a wide range of inflammatory, autoimmune, and musculoskeletal diseases. We have a particular interest in osteoporosis and fracture prevention and offer comprehensive bone health evaluations, which includes screening, diagnosis, and treatment for low bone mass. Our dedicated team of health care professionals strives to provide state-of-the-art, patient-centered care in a responsive and caring environment. Our services include Bone Density (DXA) testing for diagnosis of osteoporosis; joint/bursa injections; an on-site infusion suite where patients receive the newest, most effective treatments for Rheumatoid Arthritis, Autoimmune disorders, and Osteoporosis while reading, watching television, or just relaxing in comfortable recliners while our registered nurse (RN) infusion specialists administer FDA-approved treatment; musculoskeletal ultrasound; polarized microscopic examination of joint fluid (CLIA-certified); nailfold capillary microscopy (evaluation of Raynaud’s Phenomenon); sialometry; comprenhensive bone health evaluation; and early arthritis clinic.
Our MD provider and Nurse Practitioner provider work in conjunction to help our patients. We treat a variety of Rheumatologic conditions and have a special focus in Gouty Arthritis, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Psoriatic Arthritis, and Osteoporosis. While our primary focus is conventional FDA approved treatments for a variety of our conditions, we are open to complementary and alternative treatments including high quality arthritic supplements. Given the recent problems with narcotic analgesic diversion/overdose, we do not prescribe long term narcotics, nor are we a medical marijuana specialty practice.
