Dr. Sunny Patel, MD

Dr. Sunny Patel was born in Ocala, Florida and raised in a small town on the east coast of Florida. At an early age, he learned the importance of teamwork and a strong work ethic, which allowed for success in multiple different work environments and leadership positions. He simultaneously completed a pre-medicine curriculum and graduated with honors from the University of Florida with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Finance. He subsequently decided to pursue his true passion for medicine and attended Saba University School of Medicine. To better understand the diversity of patient care and diseases, he opted to train at many different University centers throughout the United States. This allowed him to learn the importance of a comprehensive yet humanistic approach to medicine.

Dr. Patel completed his Internal Medicine and Rheumatology training at Louisiana State University where he received numerous accolades, including the distinct honors of being elected Chief Resident of Internal Medicine and Chief Fellow of Rheumatology. He was involved in multiple clinical trials and presented at academic conferences throughout the nation. He has a passion for teaching and was often involved with the education of medical students and residents at Louisiana State University.

During his time at the Center of Excellence for Arthritis and Rheumatology at Louisiana State University, Dr. Patel learned from many pioneers in his field about treating a vast array of complicated autoimmune diseases. He is familiar with the latest in immunotherapy and non-surgical treatment options for joint and soft tissue pain. Rheumatology is an evolving field, and Dr. Patel truly believes that being able to adapt is a key cornerstone of continued success.

Dr. Patel is beyond excited to bring his expertise in Rheumatology to south Dallas and Ellis County. The community has been extremely supportive of his new practice, and he looks forward to growing with each of his patients. His vision is to lead a “traditional” style practice, where he gets to know each patient on a personal level and devotes adequate time to a comprehensive and thorough examination. He believes that every management decision should be a joint plan made after extensive communication and education. He understands the debilitating nature of many rheumatic diseases and wants to ensure that each patient always receives his full and undivided attention.
