RHEUMATOLOGY ASSOCIATES OF DELMARVA

Rheumatology Associates of Delmarva, also know as “RAD” has two offices conveniently located in Easton and Salisbury. Please note that our Cambridge office closed in September, 2022. The practice was originally founded by Dr. MacLaughlin in 1982 in Cambridge, the MacLaughlin family’s ancestral home since the mid- 1600s.  In 2002 it became Edmund J. MacLaughlin, MD, LLC and since then has grown steadily. In 2014 when Dr. Clayton, an Eastern shore native, joined the practice a fulltime office was opened in Easton.

In 2020, the practice began doing business as Rheumatology Associates of Delmarva when Drs. MacLaughlin and Clayton became partners.  The Salisbury office opened in 2021 to offer consultation, management, and infusion services to lower Delmarva. Our patients come from all counties on the peninsula: from the Virginia Cape, Southern Delaware and all the way up to Maryland’s Kent County.

The practice has continued to grow steadily over the years and now includes a team of six providers:  three rheumatologists, a bone health specialist, a nurse practitioner and a physician assistant.  We also have a highly skilled and dedicated team that allows us to offer a comprehensive array of services to our patients and community.

We are proud to call Delmarva our home and are committed to providing excellent rheumatology, osteoporosis, and infusion services for the entire peninsula.
We love what we do and we look forward to caring for our patients for decades to come.

Dr. Elizabeth S. Clayton, MD, FACR

Dr. Clayton is a native of the Eastern shore and grew up outside Ocean City, Maryland.  She completed her undergraduate studies with honors in Biology and Chemistry at Mount Saint Mary’s University in Emmitsburg, MD in 2005.  She received her M.D. from University of Maryland School of Medicine in 2009 and went on to complete both her internal medicine residency and rheumatology fellowship at University of Maryland Medical Center.

She joined Dr. MacLaughlin upon graduation from fellowship in 2014 and became a partner in the practice in 2020 when it was rebranded as Rheumatology Associates of Delmarva.  She has clinical interests in general rheumatology but also enjoys caring for patients with complex connective tissue diseases and other systemic autoimmune diseases.  She has an appointment at Shore Regional Health, a community affiliate of University of Maryland Medical System, as a consultant in rheumatology.  She has a passion for teaching and enjoys hosting students and residents when she can; she also does staff and patient education as well.    She and her husband live on the mid-shore and have two school aged children who keep them busy.  Outside of the office she enjoys traveling, cycling, reading, and boating.

Dr. Curtis M. Foy, MD, CCD

Dr. Curtis Foy is the newest member of Rheumatology Associates of Delmarva, having joined in June 2021. Dr. Foy began the Eastern Shore phase of his medical career in 2010, when he joined River Family Physicians in Easton and was a primary care physician. In 2014 the practice was acquired by Anne Arundel Medical Center in Annapolis, where he practiced primary care medicine until joining RAD to help grow the osteoporosis and metabolic bone disease portion of the practice.

He was born and raised on the coast of southern New Jersey, and obtained a Bachelors of Science degree in Biology from Stockton University. He obtained his medical degree at Rutgers-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School and subsequently joined the United States Air Force. His Family Medicine residency was completed at Malcolm Grow Medical Center at Andrews Air Force Base, Maryland. After residency training, he was assigned to Air Force bases in Washington and New Mexico as a primary care physician, flight surgeon, and occupational medicine physician. Having worn many hats in his medical career, Dr. Foy sees an opportunity to help expand osteoporosis and metabolic bone health services to the Eastern Shore, offering the latest in both diagnostic technology and treatment options for osteoporosis patients.
